Causes of Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiovascular disease is caused by a combination of genetic and lifestyle factors.  Certain genetic attributes play a large part on our risk for cardiovascular disease, as well as a series of lifestyle factors, known as health behaviors and health factors.

Cardiovascular health involves seven controllable health behaviors (healthy weight, not smoking, physical activity, and healthy eating) and health factors (cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar). Educate yourself about cardiovascular disease, its causes, how to prevent it, and how to live with it.
